Candidate Addresses Hate Crimes, Commits to Fighting for AAPI Communities

Chinatown, NY – Manhattan District Attorney Patrick Timmins today was endorsed by Community District Leader Justin Yu at an event in Chinatown.

“For too long, the Asian American community has been overlooked and underserved,” said Timmins. “That ends with me. As District Attorney I will ensure that no voice goes unheard, crime is addressed, and safety ensured.”

Speaking to the crowd, Timmins addressed the hate crime epidemic plaguing the AAPI population and vowed to make changes if elected. Specifically, Timmins laid out the following:

·      Prosecuting hate crimes to the fullest extent of the law

·      Increased communication between community liaisons and the DA’s office

·      A dedicated hotline for reporting hate crimes against

Timmins is the only democratic challenger to incumbent Alvin Bragg in a tightening race as Primary Day approaches. He has also been endorsed by former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, the East Harlem/El Barrio Democratic Club, and One City Rising.
